I admit, I fell for you but whether or not it was the real you I fell for or a facade you put on just to allure me is doubtful. My bets are on the facade, though.

You confided in me of your past loves and I professed to you of mine. You called me stupid for ever falling for those type of guys, and I agreed and thought I was now playing my cards right. You spoke to me of everything you would have done if you were in their shoes, and silly me, I gave you praise for it. You had me believing you would never do me dirt, only to do me the dirtiest. I now realize that people’s intentions are always questionable until after they’ve acted upon them.

Through you I’ve come to realize that the game changes after what people are striving to win is already theirs and unfortunately, it’s not until after people have already won do the the fronts disperse and the real them is revealed.

If there’s anything you’ve taught me, it’s that people only allow you to see what they want you to. You can never be too sure if your investing your trust on the real shit or just a front. It’s near effortless, in fact it’s almost intuitive, for people to pose themselves as something/someone they’re not when their incentive demands it, and the ease of that just increases with the strength of the motive people possess and how far they’re willing to bend backwards to see their motive go into fruition.

You deceived me because you wanted my heart, but when you got it only then did I realize it was a deception and the real you was someone I didn’t even know.
